About Me
For years, music was my world. I found joy, success, and a sense of home in every note. And even now, music continues to shape me—the rhythm, the emotion, the way it fills a room and settles into the soul.
After stepping away from my art for a while, I found myself drawn back to the colors, the light, and the quiet magic of painting. Returning to the canvas has felt a bit like returning to an old friend—comforting, inspiring, and wonderfully inevitable.
You may notice I sign my paintings Selica. That was the name I was given at birth. Life had its twists, and the name slipped away for reasons outside my control. But now, after years of growing, wandering, creating, and rediscovering who I am, I’ve come full circle. Reclaiming Selica feels like reclaiming a missing piece of myself—one I’m delighted to carry forward.
My creative process is simple:
I see it. If I love it, I paint it—my way.
No rules, no overthinking. Just a little bit of that musical heartbeat that still follows me everywhere.
My life has been rich, and if you look closely, you’ll find hints of me woven into many of my paintings: an olive-skinned girl, grateful, curious, and quietly amazed by the life she’s been blessed with. Almost anything can set me off to paint— especially the kind of natural beauty only God could have imagined. I spend my days turning little surprises into art and hoping they bring a bit of joy to this crazy world.
Thank you for dropping in. I hope my paintings fill you the way music—and a great sunset—fills me.
Count it all Joy,
“Selica” Sally Kahlfeldt
